When Easter Doesn’t Go as Planned
When Easter doesn’t go as planned, it can leave us feeling disappointed and heavy-hearted. But even in the midst of unmet expectations, the truth remains—He is risen, and that changes everything.

Today didn’t go the way I thought it would.
Plans were made. Expectations were there. I had pictured a full day—family gathered, time together, everything falling into place the way holidays are “supposed” to feel.
But it didn’t turn out that way.
Some of the people I was expecting didn’t show up, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt. It did. It left me feeling disappointed and a little heartbroken.
And for the first time in I don’t even know how long… I didn’t go to church on Easter Sunday. That alone felt heavy.
But even in all of that, there was something quietly steady underneath it all.
Because Easter isn’t about perfect plans.
It isn’t about full tables or everything going right.
It’s about this one truth:
Jesus rose from the dead.
And no matter what kind of day I had…
no matter what didn’t happen…
no matter what felt missing…
That truth didn’t change.
He is still risen.
He is still alive.
And He still lives in my heart.
Today reminded me that life isn’t always going to look the way we hoped it would. People will disappoint us. Plans will fall apart. Moments won’t always match the picture we had in our minds.
But God doesn’t change with our circumstances.
And maybe, in a quiet and unexpected way, that’s what I needed to be reminded of today.
That even in disappointment…
even in stillness…
even in a day that didn’t feel like Easter…
He is still enough.
If today didn’t go the way you hoped either… you’re not alone.
And even here, in the middle of it…
there is still something to hold onto.
